Our Governors

The Governing Body at Harbour Primary and Nursery School works in partnership with the staff to promote high quality education for pupils.

We appoint the Head Teacher and work closely with them to make decisions that directly affect the education and well-being of all children.

Part of a school's governing body's responsibilities are to:

  • Promote high standards of educational attainment
  • Set an annual budget detailing planned spending
  • Make decisions on matters such as performance, targets, school policies and school development plans
  • Draw up an action plan following inspection reports
  • Appoint staff, ensuring implementation of a range of personnel procedures
  • Ensure health and safety of pupils and staff.

The Governing Body is a 'critical friend', challenging and supporting the Senior Leadership Team, monitoring the outcome of policies and ensuring accountability.

Our Governing Board meet 6 times a year at Full Governing Board Meetings.

We have 10 members of the governing board including the Headteacher.

Our clerk to the Governors can be contacted on clerk@harbour.e-sussex.sch.uk, please email the clerk if you wish to contact the Chair of Governors.
